Cole Houser finished second place in the Arizona Midget Racing Assoiation for the season. A big improvement over last year's 9th place finish, he is a much improved driver. Running up front and out of trouble only one DNF due to getting caught up in someone else's crash. Only one other finish was out of the top 5.
In September he started preparing for next season in a 360 sprint car. He was called in to drive one as a rookie to see how he liked it. He installed the seat in a new Ellis sprint car with a Don Ott engine on a Friday and took it to Canyon Raceway on Saturday. First time to drive the car was mud packing and hot laps. He had to tag the heat starting 8th. He finished 5th just missing the main. So in the B he started 16th with the top 8 getting to transfer to the A he finished 7th. Into the main starting 20th and a dry slick track he stayed out of the crashes and finished12th. Not bad for first time in the new car.
So he says he is moving to sprint cars next season. He also ran the sprint car in the Western World at Manzanita Speedway as a rookie he was put to the back each time. Starting 10th in the heat he finished 6th but had to tag the B (18th) and managed to gain possitions to finish 12th. Another good showing considering 60 plus cars from around the country showed for the race.
Looking forward to next season with hope of Rookie of the Year. There is one more race left in the midget before he moves on the 2005 chilli bowl in January.
See you there!
