Well, it's been awhile since anything has been entered here. Cole has been
fairly busy. He's won two trophy dashes in Prescott. The last race there, the
Midgets only got to run 5 laps in the main before curfew, so it was declared a
non-race with no points given. At Manzanita on 7-2-05, he ran the Sprint car
and the Midget. It was a busy night, no time to hot lap the Sprint car, he just
went out for qualifying. Two laps he was 11th fast out of 36 cars. In the
heat, he finished 6th and was scheduled for the semi main but with races running
back to back he scratched the Sprint and got himself ready for the main. In the
heat he finished 3rd and in the main he avoided some of the crashes and
finished 8th. Still can't seem to get to the front but running both cars seemed to
help. He was passing cars and moving forward.
July 8th Cole was at Mesa Meran with his sister Jessie. They had rented as
ASA Speed Truck and rented the paved 1/2 mile oval for the day. Testing the
speed truck and using radios with a spotter was a new experience for Cole. Jessie
was somewhat used to it from her SCCA experience in the Formula Continental,
although it's been at least 1 1/2 years since she's been in a race car, they
both did very well right off. Just like the old 1/4 Midget days they said.
Spotter Galen Puccini was a big help checking the car and getting them used to the
radios, also keeping track of time and set up changes. Even with year old used
tires they were both in the time range of the last race. At about mid way or
better. 1/2 way thru the day we changed to new tires and instantly Cole and
Jessie would easily be in the top 10. Not bad on a hot afternoon in a rental
truck, first time out.
Next up July 16th, Jessie will practice at Irwindale, Friday night. Then the
rented truck will be raced by Mosses Smith, as for Cole he just had his wisdom
teeth pulled and is alittle out of it, but he'll be ready to run the Sprint
car and Midget on the 23rd of July at Manzy. Both of the dirt cars are for sale
and we are currently looking to have 2 trucks for next year. Stay tuned. Oh
yeah, Cole and this guy that writes this made a deal no shaving till we get a
win. So if we look like ZZ Top sometime in the future you'll know why.
